A New Volunteer Project at King VCS

January 30, 2009

Phone Buddies is a special new project of Volunteer Chore Services, King County, which seeks to connect isolated older adults with caring members of the community through a weekly phone conversation.

Many older adults in our community lead isolated lives at home and lack the ability or means to travel outside for social interactions. In addition, many do not have family or friends nearby or no longer have these supports in their lives. Although the primary purpose of Volunteer Chore Services is to assist low-income elderly and disabled adults with chore services, we also recognize the strong need many of our clients have for communication and meaningful interactions with others.

A friendly phone call from a caring volunteer can be all that is needed to provide a sense of well being for an older adult and enrich your life, as well. Many of the participants in the Volunteer Chore Services program have wonderful stories and experiences that they will enjoy sharing with you. An hour or less a week is all it will take to bring a sense of exuberance and joy into their lives. Please contact Rachel Davis at 888-649-6850 or by email for more information.
