Home Shelters and Homeless Services A.R.I.S.E.
The Area of Renton Interfaith Shelter Endeavor (A.R.I.S.E) program is a year-round over- night shelter for single adult men 18 and older that directly addresses the issues of homelessness in South King County. In partnership with Renton area churches A.R.I.S.E provides a safe place for homeless men to sleep and receive a hot meal, as well as the opportunity to stabilize and work on self-sufficiency through case management. Men who stay at the shelter are provided with case management services focusing on addressing employment goals, mental health and CD issues, securing permanent affordable housing and health care for each individual.
In 2008, the ARISE program enrolled 145 men, including 17 veterans and provided 7,179 bednights. On average, each night ARISE keeps 25 men off the streets.
The program relies on the partnership and support from area churches, the A.R.I.S.E site committee, the City of Renton, King County, the United Way, and by over 1,500 volunteers from faith-based organizations throughout South King County since its inception in 2005. The shelter rotates monthly among 10 local churches, with the support of 23 local churches/organizations that provide food.. The volunteer support keeps men connected to the community and spreads awareness of homelessness throughout the community.
The ARISE shelter makes it a priority to restore hope and make homelessness a thing of the past for each individual that passes through its’ door.
